Ultimate Girls Enter Fourteenth Season
Source: Ultimate Volleyball Club

The Ultimate Volleyball Club Girls’ fourteenth season is officially underway. Ultimate Girls kicked off their season by competing in the Great Lakes Power League and the Windy City Power League. Power Leagues include teams from Illinois, Michigan, Wisconsin, Indiana, and Iowa, and consist of season-long competitions that prepare teams to chase JVA, AAU, and USAV national titles.

According to PrepVolleyball.com, “The 2012 Great Lakes Power League will feature 29 of the nation's top 250 seniors.” Competing in this league’s 17/18s division are Ultimate’s 18-gold team that starts five NCAA Division I committed players, and Ultimate’s 16-gold team that won the bronze medal at USAV Jr. Nationals in 2011.

Ultimate VBC’s younger teams compete in the Windy City Power League, where the club had a strong opening weekend showing. The girls’ 16-blue team went undefeated, posting a 6-0 record. The 14-gold went 5-1, and both 13-gold and 12-gold went 4-2.

“Power League competition is fierce and Ultimate is ready for the challenge,” said Ultimate Club Director, Erin Lorenz. “The tougher the competition, the better for our teams. It’s early in the season, but this competition will prepare us for the national qualifier tournaments that will begin in March.”
